Welcome to Land of Promise Farms Featuring Champion Show Pigs
Purchased in 1959 as a purebred Hereford operation, Land of Promise Farms has always been prominent and well-known in the livestock industry. Upon, dispersal of the cattle herd many years ago, Land of Promise Farms evolved into prosperous row crop operation growing corn, wheat, and soybeans. Additionally, a farrow-to-finish, commercial style hog operation was developed as a way to diversify the original operation.
In the early 1990’s, changes in the swine industry marketing structure led to a need to further develop ways to add value to pigs produced and marketed at Land of Promise Farms. Seeing a need for locally and regionally produced, high quality show pigs, Land of Promise Farms set out to develop a superior genetic base of sows to produce competitive show/club pigs.
Today, Land of Promise Farms markets pigs throughout the United States based on high-quality genetics, their reputation for exceptional customer service, and their ability to produce pigs that “get the job done” in the show ring.
Show Pigs
High quality pigs that will put you in the winner’s circle are available year-round at affordable prices. We usually stage two silent bid board sales each year. Sign up for our news feed at the bottom of the side bar.
Sweet Corn
Fresh sweet corn is usually available for picking and sale in July and August. Most of our production is sold to local “fresh produce” vendors and some commercial accounts.
Pecans
U-Pick pecans are available in the fall and winter, typically starting in November.
More About Our Specialty Markets
Although the row crop operation is the biggest portion of Land of Promise Farms, we have chosen to diversify our farming operation and develop some high quality specialty markets. Our three main niche markets are
- Raising and selling show pigs to 4-H and FFA members
- Raising and selling sweet corn during the summer
- Opening our pecan orchard up for a u-pick pecan operation in the fall and winter.
The newest and perhaps the most exciting of these markets is raising show pigs or “club pigs” and marketing them to youth locally, statewide and nationally to show at county fairs, state fairs, Jack pot shows, etc. This venture began in the early 1990’s as Shane and Ryan wound down their pig showing careers and started looking for ways to add value to a small farrow-to-finish hog operation that had always been part of Land of Promise Farms.
